Latest statement from West Yorkshire Combined Authority regarding Bradford Interchange bus station
The West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) has today confirmed that Bradford Interchange bus station is to remain closed for at least two months. They have issued a statement which can be found on their website.
They have extra staff in the city centre to help direct people and are working hard to limit disruption to people’s journeys. Please check the Metro travel website for the full list of alternative bus stops.
The rail station is open as normal, with access via the ramp footpath on Bridge Street. Rail services are unaffected.
We have temporarily closed Jacobs Well Car Park to help WYCA to keep buses moving through the city centre. Information about alternative car parks can be found on our website.

Winter weather
Our gritting crews have been working hard this week to keep the district moving during the wintery weather. Information about gritting including a map of our gritting routes and advice for winter driving can be found on our website. You can also find information about staying warm and well during cold weather on our website.
Issues with bin collections
Unfortunately, due to the icy weather conditions, our bin crews have been unable to collect waste from most areas across the district. We have attempted to return to some areas, but this is still unsafe for staff/vehicles.
Due to the weather forecast over the weekend, we are arranging for our crews to come in on Monday to collect any outstanding waste.
Please leave your bins out if they have not been emptied.
This should be hopefully be back to normal for Tuesday.
We apologise for any inconvenience.

Popular cobbled Keighley street to be repaired
Work to repair a steep, historic ‘cobbled’ street is due to start this week, thanks to a £190k boost from the Keighley Towns Fund.
Thwaites Brow Road, known locally as ‘The Twines,’ is paved with setts – square or rectangular quarried stones. But in some areas these stones are in a poor condition, and over the years repairs have been carried out with modern materials such as tarmacadam.
Repairs will involve the relaying of salvaged setts and the supply and laying of new ones, using £190K from the government-funded Towns Fund.
Businesses benefit from Towns Fund boost
The latest round of business funding from both the Shipley and Keighley Towns Funds saw two businesses benefit, with the potential creation of eight jobs.
The Capital Assistance to Business Growth Programme is part of the Government-funded Towns Fund and there is £4m available to support local businesses in both the Keighley and Shipley areas, with approximately £2m allocated to each. Grants are allocated by Towns Fund boards for each town, made up of private sector representatives, with support from us.
The Old Post Office on Main Street in Haworth was awarded £8,900 towards its refurbishment and fit-out as a cafe, including commercial kitchen equipment and furniture, which will support eight new jobs.
FREE business support drop-in sessions
Bradford Council is running a series of FREE drop-in events to support businesses across the district.
The business support drop-in sessions are being run by the council’s Invest in Bradford team, and businesses from start-ups through to those more well-established are welcome to attend.
Booking is not required and people can simply call in for advice on a wide range of topics. Businesses are welcome to bring any issues they’d like to discuss such as opportunities for grants and funding as well as guidance on how to apply, recruitment and training, marketing, searching for and maintaining premises, innovation and digitalisation.
