‘Wangari’s Trees of Peace’ with Mud Pie Arts

Have you heard of Kenya’s ‘Mama Miti’, The Mother of the Trees? Be inspired by the true story of a village girl who grew up to lead women to plant millions of trees in Africa. In troubled times, Wangari Maathai faced many dangers and went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Join Jenna for an interactive storytelling session based on the beautiful book by Jeanette Winters. Help Wangari defend the city’s park from the bulldozers. Learn about the many ways trees help us all. Try your hand at leaf identification. Take a seed home and give three cheers for the incredible Wangari Maathai!

Family Halloween Hyacinths at Bolling Hall Library & Museum

Bolling Hall Library & Museum sets the scene for our spooky stories with book characters coming alive for the day.  Storytelling all day long with Bolling Hall library volunteers, Halloween Hyacinths bulb planting pots to take home decorated in a spooky style; magical face painting with Fairies Wardrobe; Bradford Stories Bus will be in the museum gardens – travelling more than 3,000 miles from New York, the bright yellow bus promotes community literacies by encouraging families to express themselves and tell their own stories!
Refreshments to buy in the 16th century Cold Kitchen (samosas and cake!).
