Keighley Local Studies Library launches the Keighley Library Town Trails booklet with related archives on display in the library followed by a Brontë Footsteps Trail around Keighley, led by popular guide Irene Lofthouse in costume.

Thackley Christmas Tree Lights Switch-On

Fifteen independent stalls, festive food and drink vendors, and a German Style Christmas Market is bound to get you in to the spirit of Christmas!

Also the ever so popular Christmas Tree Switch On and a very special visit from Santa.

Join an evening of shopping, singing, eating, drinking and cheer!


Musical Rocks Recital

Cliffe Castle Museum Saturday 3 December 2pm-3pm FREE

A recital and informal talk celebrating a new display of the heritage lithophone.

Percussionist Polly McMillan will be playing four new compositions written especially for the instrument by local composers Ben Crick, Ben Gaunt, Flori Maunders and Heider Nasralla.

The stones were re-discovered after years in storage, they were donated to the museum in 1906 by Henry Phillipson, who was the museum curator at the time.

This rare set of heritage musical stones, known as a ‘lithophone’, is now displayed in the conservatory at Cliffe Castle museum you can come along and play it yourself.

Christmas Market with range of stalls including food and drink, Santa's grotto, and entertainment

11am-4:30pm Christmas Market (many local businesses will be staying open too).
3:30pm Wibsey Primary School Choir will sing at the tree
3:45pm Clifton and Lightcliffe Brass Band/carols around the tree
4pm Bradford Bulls will switch the lights on

Warm drinks and mince pies served in the Library after the switch on. 

The High Street will be closed from 8am to 8pm (we're hoping to have it cleared and open again by 6pm).

The Museums and Park staff will be there to help you every step of the way or just let your creativity run wild.

Annual Christmas tree lighting with mulled wine followed by pie, peas and carol concert inside the pub afterwards.

The Friends of Holden (Oakworth) Park and Haworth Ukulele Group are staging a Christmas sing song in the park. Wrap up warm bring a torch and join in. There will also be a tasty slice and a warm drink in the courtyard for a donation.

Celebrate a Yorkshire Christmas with stories, poems and songs with Rod and Pam Dimbleby. Rod Dimbleby is Chairman of the Yorkshire Dialect Society and a Yorkshire dialect storyteller and author.

Sing As One - Christmas Carol Service

Bradford Cathedral Thursday 8 December 6pm-7.30pm FREE

All those working in health and care locally, either in the NHS, local authority, VCS or the independent care sector across the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership are invited to the NHS Carol Service, which features the Bradford Cathedral Choir and a youth brass band. 

Doors open at 5.30pm, and refreshments will be served following the service, around 7.30pm.

Visit Santa in the Oastler Market

Santa will be taking time out of his busy schedule to make special appearances in his grotto at the Oastler Market Event Space on Saturday 10, Saturday 17, Saturday 21, Friday 23 and Christmas Eve Saturday 24 December from 11am to 3pm. He will also be doing walkabouts down to meet children at the Kirkgate Market.
