Baby Week Bradford
Baby Week Bradford is back for its 5th Year – 14-20 November 2022
This year’s Baby Week Bradford is all about speech, language and communication throughout a baby’s life.
You might think babies can’t talk, but in fact they’re born communicating. Every time they cry, kick their legs, make a face, babble or giggle, they’re saying something…long before they use their first words.
By interacting with them – even before birth – we can all build these early communication skills to help their brains develop, help them feel safe and connected, and help them grow up happy and healthy. This supports their speech, language and communication throughout their lives.
There’s a whole host of events happening during the week for families and the early years workforce. Take a look at what’s happening here www.babyweekbradford.org
Boost your immunity this winter with the COVID-19 and Flu vaccines
Cases of COVID-19 and flu are on the rise in winter, so it’s important that eligible people get their boosters and vaccinations. Not only do the jabs protect you against the nasty effects of these viruses, but they can prevent them spreading to people you live and work with, which is especially important if they’re vulnerable. It’s especially important to get boosted if you’re pregnant as not only will it protect you, it will also protect your baby. Speak to your GP to make an appointment.
Or why not pop to one of the ActAsOne Winter Wellbeing fairs? Starting next week there will be a series of events around Bradford where residents can drop in to speak to health care professionals about a range of medical issues including healthy eating, mental health and coping with the cost-of-living crisis. New upgrades for Bradford Road, Bingley
We are set to make a major road in Bingley safer and more pedestrian and cycle-friendly with a range of new improvements.
Following extensive consultations with local residents, improvements to the B6265 Bradford Road between Wagon Lane and Ashfield Crescent will include improved pedestrian crossings and adding new speed bumps to slow traffic.
Segregated cycle lanes will be introduced, with some on-street parking being retained close to Beckfoot School.
A new pedestrian and cycle crossing will replace an existing crossing outside the school, and six bus stops will be upgraded allowing cyclists to pass stationary buses more safely on their nearside.
The speed limit will reduce from 40mph to 30mph between Cottingley Drive and Cottingley Bar.
Access restrictions to side streets near Beckfoot School are proposed along with a u–turn ban outside the school to improve safety.
Works will start at the end of November this year and should last around four months.
Disruption will be minimised by doing the work in stages and by using traffic management to maintain flows.
