Six things to know and share about BD25
Bradford shortlist: On Saturday 19 March 2022, Bradford was officially named by the DCMS as one of four places shortlisted to be the next UK City of Culture 2025
It's our time: Without a doubt we are in this to win it. Bradford is ready to be the next UK City of Culture
Youngest: As the UK's youngest city (29% of its population under 20 and nearly a quarter under 16), young people have been instrumental in shaping Bradford's bid
Most diverse: As the most diverse place in the competition, the city of culture designation is an opportunity to tell the district's story in its own voice, offering a platform for the experiences of our many communities and cultures
Levelling up: Bradford district was recently named by an independent report as the city with the most to gain from the Levelling Up agenda. Everyone is seeing its ambition and potential
Culture driving investment: Public and private sector businesses are backing the bid. There's a huge appetite amongst stakeholders here to support Bradford if we win because culture is a proven catalyst for attracting inward investment and driving inclusive growth.

Call out to create bunting to decorate the Bradford district for the Platinum Jubilee
Stitchers and crafters are being called on to help decorate the district for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
We’re looking for individuals, community groups or organisations who would like to get involved in helping the District to celebrate this momentous occasion to get their needles and threads out and make bunting.
The bunting can be any colour - red, white and blue would be good as it’s the colours from the union flag or deep purple which is the official colour of the Platinum Jubilee, but it really doesn’t matter.
If can be any design but the ideal flag size would be between 15cm and 40cm.
Bunting can be dropped off before 27 May 2022 to be included in the celebrations. This can be done anonymously but we’d like to hear the backstory of these amazing creations, so if people could include a note with details of who’s made it we can share it on social media.

Are you willing to take part in a short survey to help identify how we can support pregnant women in Bradford to access stop smoking services? If you are pregnant, currently smoke, live in the Bradford District and are aged 18 or over we would love to hear from you. We want to find out what might help or prevent pregnant women accessing the stop smoking support available to them. The survey is anonymous and you can part by visiting the survey page. It will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Have your say on Wibsey Library
Local residents living in the Wibsey, Royds, Buttershaw and nearby areas are invited to take part in a survey launched today (6 May) about their local library.
The survey will help inform the development of Wibsey library once it reopens in June following a period of refurbishment which will see the floor, lighting and heating replaced and the interior redecorated.
Local people are asked to have their say on opening hours, what activities and events they would like to see, and to give their comments on how the library could better meet their needs. The survey is available online and in paper copy from Wyke Library and other local services across Wibsey and the wider area. Library staff will also be visiting local groups and services over the coming weeks to distribute the survey in person.
The closing date is Friday 3 June and people who take part are in with a chance to win a £25 shopping voucher.
Memorial service to mark the 37th anniversary of the Bradford City fire
Wednesday 11 May marks the 37th anniversary of the Bradford City AFC fire disaster at Valley Parade. This year for the first time since 2019 the memorial service will be in person.
The service, which is attended by the relatives and friends of those who lost their lives or were injured, as well as local people, will take place at the Bradford City Fire Memorial sculpture in Centenary Square.
