Bradford Clean Air Zone is launching in Spring 2022

CAZ

Clean Air Zones are being introduced in cities across England to improve air quality and the health of people who live and work there.

A Clean Air Zone (CAZ) is a defined area where targeted action is taken to improve air quality. Through the use of a daily charge for entering the zone, the Council will encourage affected vehicle owners to consider upgrading their vehicles to compliant standards. There will be a daily charge to drive into the zone for vehicles that do not meet the required emission standards.

Private cars and motorbikes will NOT be charged in Bradford’s CAZ but may be charged in other cities with zones.

You do not need to apply for a grant or exemption in Bradford’s Clean Air Zone if you are driving a private car or motorbike; or the vehicle you are driving meets the required emission standards.

Check the status of your vehicle on the Government’s Website: https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones

If you will regularly have to pay to drive in Bradford Clean Air Zone, we can provide grants to help you replace your vehicle with a cleaner compliant one, or adapt (retrofit or repower) your vehicle so that it meets the required emission standards. For many businesses, upgrading to a compliant vehicle could be a cost-effective alternative to paying the charge over the longer term, in Bradford and in other Clean Air Zones. It may also offer businesses cost savings in fuel and maintenance.

It's never too late to start recycling!

HWRC

Have you made any New Year’s resolutions this year? Maybe one of them could be to try and recycle more?

If you don’t have one already, why not order a recycling bin – they are free and come with a handy sticker which shows what you can put in the bin. Or, if you’ve already got one and think you could probably fill up two – order a second bin, we’d be more than happy to get one out to you as soon as possible.

If you’re already recycling, please make sure you are putting the right things in the right bin. If you’re unsure, you can find a list of what goes in which bin on our website. https://www.bradford.gov.uk/recycling-and-waste/wheeled-bins-and-recycling-containers/what-goes-in-my-recycling-and-waste-bins-and-bags/

Bins which are have the wrong materials in end up costing us all to sort out. It means some things which could be recycled end up going to landfill and loads of recyclables are rejected because they contain things that can’t be recycled. Both of which carry extra costs.

Please remember, if you’ve got too much excess household waste you can take it free of charge to one of our eight Household Waste Recycling Centres. Find your nearest HWRC here: https://www.bradford.gov.uk/recycling-and-waste/household-waste-recycling-centres/search-household-waste-sites/

Happy recycling!
