Face Coverings and Access to Council Buildings and Services
The government has announced new rules to help reduce the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Since Friday, 10 December it is a requirement that face coverings must be worn in most public venues.
Face coverings
Face coverings must be worn throughout any visit to Council or public buildings. The only exceptions are:
- For people who are exempt from wearing face coverings and visitors aged under 11. We ask that people are mindful and respectful of such circumstances.
- When people are eating and drinking in areas where this is permitted, such as theatres.
- When exercising in leisure centres – however, face masks must be worn when people are in ‘non exercise’ areas.
Please note, if you’re not exempt from wearing a mask, you cannot be admitted to any Council buildings without a face covering.
We ask that people maintain social distancing (one meter) in Council buildings.
Currently, all council services and buildings remain open.
