Winter weather update

Power cuts

Power cuts across the district

We are aware that large parts of the Bradford district continue to be without electricity and around 1,500 properties are still affected.

Northern Powergrid are working to get people reconnected as quickly as they can. Their website has information about the individual power cuts and their estimated time for reconnection. Anyone who is vulnerable can ring 105.

Please continue to look out for vulnerable and elderly family, friends and neighbours.

Thank you to Addingham Memorial Hall, St Mary's Church Hall in Riddlesden, Denholme Youth Centre, Silsden Town Hall and Silsden Methodist Church for providing a safe space for people to get warm and charge their phones.

Thank you to all staff, residents, volunteers and councillors who have been working so hard to support people affected in the district.

Forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Icy Road

No more snow is forecast overnight for the district however - the Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for Ice - the warning came in to force today at 3pm today and is in place until 10am tomorrow (Monday 29.11.21).

Information about Weather Warnings can be found on the Met Office website here.

Please take extra care tomorrow morning.

Gritting

Our gritter crews have been out all day across the district gritting when and where needed and will continue to be out throughout the day and overnight.

They will be back out to do a full grit of all Priority One Routes across the district at 5am tomorrow morning.

Information about gritting including a map of gritting routes can be found here.

If you need to be out on the roads please clear all snow from your vehicle before you set off, slow down, leave plenty of distance and drive to the conditions.

Winter driving tips can be found here.

Streetlink

Cold Weather Provision open for rough sleepers

Outreach and support workers will be out to help people who are out on the street, but if you are worried about anyone sleeping rough in the district please call 01274 309165, visit www.streetlink.org.uk or download the Street Link app on your phone.

Everyone who stays for a ‘cold weather’ bed is provided with support to help resolve their housing situation on a longer term basis.

Please take care and look out for one another
