halloween

Spooky fun for half term

Not all our children find Halloween and being out in the dark easy. Bradford parks have developed a Halloween trail for children who may enjoy joining in. The trail can be accessed in Lister Park, Peel Park, Harold Park and Horton Park.

The new Love Exploring App provides a range of quiz trails and guided tours that are fun to do and free to use. Use the map to find dancing, life-sized skeletons and then answer their questions.

Simply download the Love Exploring app on your smartphone, select the local park and scan away to explore and have fun!

EHCP Annual Review Improvements

The SEND integrated assessment team are continuing to make improvements to the completion time of annual reviews to make sure that Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) are processed in accordance with statutory timescales. Following a review, the SEND integrated assessment team will make a decision whether to keep, amend or cease an EHCP. The SEND Code of Practice suggests that EHCP's are not expected to be amended on a very frequent basis and therefore some plans may not be amended and a no amends letter may be issued.

An annual review recovery team has been recruited to facilitate and support the service in amending EHCP's following a child or young person’s annual review. The new team will start at the beginning of November and will initially prioritise amending EHCP's within Years’ 8, 9, 13 and 14. A child who is in foundation stage 1 (nursery), Year 6 and 11 will have their EHCP amended as part of their phased transfer when they move through education, from one stage, to the next.

For more information regarding annual reviews please see our One Minute guide and FAQs

update

Covid vaccine update

Anybody aged 12-15 can now have their COVID vaccination at sites other than school, which means they can visit one of the Grab a Jab walk in clinics at St Luke’s Hospital in Bradford this half term.

The clinics are welcoming walk-in patients, particularly families and households, from 4-8pm on Friday 29 October. More clinics are available at St Luke’s during November and dates are updated here. You do not need to be registered with a GP to visit the walk-in clinic at St Luke’s.

Following the government announcement about vaccines for 12-15 year olds, appointments will be available for booking through the NHS National Booking Service. The child must be registered with a GP to use the service.

Boosters

COVID booster vaccinations are now available helping to give extra protection for people most at risk from the infection. To be eligible for a booster, you must have had your first and second doses of the vaccination and it should be at least six months since the second dose.

You will be contacted either by your GP or the NHS National Booking Service when it is your turn to have your booster. Please see more information about  when it is your turn to have your booster. Currently, walk-in booster vaccinations are only available at Jacobs Well.

Details of COVID vaccinations and the walk-in clinics in the Bradford district and Craven are available here.
