Quit smoking for good, you CAN do it and we will help!

If you’re a smoker or know someone else who would like to stop, we can help you to quit for good.

Stopping smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health. 

Even if you've tried before and didn't manage to stop, don't give up on quitting because with our help, you really can do it. Lots of smokers try several times before they succeed, but getting the right support instead of ‘going it alone’ is proven to make the difference.

We have expanded our Living Well stop smoking service to make it available in some GP practices and pharmacies in Bradford district. This means you can now find support locally as well as from our Living Well Advisors.

When you get in touch you will receive free friendly advice and ongoing professional support from our expert advisors. They will work with you to find the best way for you to quit, help you to manage any cravings, and explain how to use proven methods and treatment including NRT (nicotine replacement therapy).

Research shows that if smokers make it to 28 days smoke free, they are five times more likely to quit for good*. When people stop smoking, they start doing so much more, from moving better to saving money, and being able to breathe more easily. Get the advice and support you need to quit for good.

Meet Steve who is quitting smoking with help from a Living Well stop smoking advisor.

Local man Steve was a heavy smoker, smoking between 50-60 cigarettes each day for over 60 years.

What happens when you quit?

After 8 hours
Carbon monoxide levels in blood reduce by more than half and oxygen levels return to normal.

After 48 hours
Carbon monoxide is eliminated from the body. Lungs start to clear out mucus and other smoking debris

After 72 hours
Breathing becomes easier as bronchial tubes begin to relax

After 2 to 12 weeks
Lung function and blood circulation starts to improve, making physical activity like walking and running easier

After 3 to 9 months
Any coughs, wheezing or breathing problems will be improving as your lung function increases further
