Updated information on COVID-19 restrictions for the Bradford District
We are now in Step 3 of the Government Roadmap out of Lockdown.
You may have some questions about what is open and how to stay safe so we have updated the COVID-19 restrictions frequently asked questions on the council website.

Travelling to green spaces
You can stay overnight in a campsite, caravan, second home, boat, hotel, bed and breakfast or other accommodation.
You may stay overnight in holiday accommodation in groups of up to 6, or larger groups if everyone present is from 2 households (including support bubbles), unless a legal exemption applies. Read guidance on hotels and other guest accommodation.
You should continue to plan ahead and travel safely. If you need to travel, walk or cycle where possible, and plan ahead to avoid busy times and routes if you use public transport. You should follow the safer travel guidance and the guidance on car sharing.
Before travelling, you should check if facilities are open to visitors (for example, car parks and toilets). Do not park on verges or block gates. This restricts access for other vehicles.
Respect other people and protect the natural environment
Read signs and respect the measures that local authorities and site management have put in place to help ensure social distancing.
When in the countryside, follow the Countryside Code. You should:
- take all of your litter home
- keep dogs under effective control and on a lead when you are around farm animals - read further guidance for pet owners
- leave gates as you find them and follow instructions on signs
- keep to paths and follow signs where they suggest alternative routes
- check if facilities are open to visitors (for example, car parks and toilets)
Wildlife, including nesting birds, may have moved into new areas. Land managers may have provided extra protection for wildlife. Be vigilant and comply with these protective measures so that you do not disrupt the local wildlife.
Pick up Lateral Flow Test kit from pharmacies
About 1 in 3 people with COVID-19 do not have symptoms but can still infect others.
You should do a rapid test twice a week (every 3 to 4 days) to check if you have the virus. If people test positive and self-isolate, it helps stop the virus spreading.
You can collect COVID-19 Lateral Flow Test (LFT) kits for use at home from many pharmacies around the district.
They’re free and you get a result 30 minutes after taking the test.
You can find your local pharmacy for LFT home test pick up here
- If you have a positive lateral flow test, you then need to follow up with a PCR test.
- If you get a positive result from a Lateral Flow Test, you and anyone you live with will have to isolate immediately.
- If you get a negative result from a Lateral Flow Test you must still stick to the guidelines and continue to wash your hands regularly, wear a face covering and stay at least 2m apart.
- Children of all ages can be tested by both PCR or LFT, at the discretion of their parents or guardians. Guidance is available on how to do this when you attend a testing site.
You can read more information about testing in the District here.
COVID-19 Charter for holidaymakers launched
The government has, today (17 May), published the ‘Passenger COVID-19 Charter’, which sets out a clear and accessible source of information for passengers outlining their rights and responsibilities when travelling this summer.
As first set out by the Global Travel Taskforce, the charter will guide passengers on what to do if their travel plans change, including:
· what they are entitled to through their passenger rights
· expectations of the providers they are booking trips with
· their own responsibilities to ensure a smooth journey
Protect your loved ones. Download the app.
The NHS COVID-19 app, available to download in England and Wales, is the fastest way to see if you're at risk from coronavirus. The faster you know, the quicker you can alert and protect your loved ones and community, helping to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The free NHS COVID-19 app is a vital part of the NHS Test and Trace service in England.
When and why do I need to check into a venue?
Designated venues in certain sectors must have a system in place to request and record contact details of their customers, visitors and staff to help break the chains of transmission of coronavirus.
To support this, the Government has developed the NHS Test & Trace app which uses QR codes. The NHS website includes information on how you can support your customers and visitors to use the app.

Self-isolate - help stop the spread
If you have coronavirus symptoms or have tested positive for coronavirus you must self-isolate for 10 days.
You should self-isolate if you have any of the following symptoms:
- a high temperature
- a new, continuous cough
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
If you have not already had a test you can book your test here: www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
Keeping yourself and others safe
Social distancing is still very important. You should stay 2 metres apart from anyone who is not in your household or support bubble where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings) if you cannot stay 2 metres apart.
It is more important than ever to remember Hands, Face, Space and Fresh Air to keep infection levels down and our friends and family safe.
