What should I do?
As we move through each of phase of the Spring roadmap, we must all remember that COVID-19 remains a part of our lives.
We are going to have to keep living our lives differently to keep ourselves and others safe and this should include following the guidance below:
- Hands, Face, Space is key to keeping us safe
- Meet outdoors when we can and keep letting fresh air in.
- Get tested when needed.
- Get vaccinated when offered.

Schools starting to return
As part of the Governments roadmap step 1 starts on the 8th March 2021.
The priority is to ensure that all children and students return safely to face-to-face education in schools and colleges from 8 March. Childcare and children’s supervised activities can also resume where necessary to enable parents to work or engage in similar activities.
Higher Education students at English universities on practical courses can also return from 8th March
For more information on returning to education check out the latest on our website
Rapid lateral flow testing (LTF) for households and bubbles of school pupils and staff
There will be twice-weekly rapid testing for secondary and college pupils - in addition to regular testing for all teachers - to reduce the chance of the virus spreading in schools.
As part of this return, secondary school and college students will receive three initial tests at school or college before transitioning to twice-weekly home testing.
Primary school children will not be regularly asymptomatically tested due to low levels of transmission between younger aged children but will continue to need to come forward for tests if they have symptoms.
Home based testing LFT kits will become available for anyone in a bubble with a school aged child. You will be able get your LFT’s sent to your home or collect them from a nationally run PCR testing site.
We will issue further information when it comes available.
