A massive thank you to all those from communities across the whole district, and beyond, for everything you have done for the Bradford District through 2020.
Whether you are key worker in a frontline service or someone working behind the scenes to keep a business, workplace or vital service running, your hard work is appreciated. Thank you.
For every time you’ve washed your hands, worn your face-covering or stepped away to create space, thank you. It is these small actions that have contributed to saving lives.
For all the missed birthdays, anniversaries and celebrations that have had to be put on hold, cancelled or had to be scaled back, thank you for putting the need to fight the spread of COVID-19 and saving others first.
For all those who have gone out of their way to help others throughout this very tough time, thank you. If you’ve checked on someone living alone, got shopping for a neighbour, raised spirits through online or socially distanced activities, helped someone with technology so they can stay connected, displayed your kid’s painted rainbows in your window or done anything at all that has helped to support others, thank you.
And if you are working over the Christmas and New Year holiday period a special thank you to you and your families.
The Government said that people can choose to form a Christmas Bubble on Christmas Day (25 December) only.
For more information and advice on staying safe over the festive season, please see our COVID-19 guidance for Christmas.
COVID-19 travel advice
There should be no travel between tiers unless for essential work, education, caring or medical reasons.
Bradford is currently in Tier 3 - People in Tier 3 areas are advised not to leave to go to second homes and to also carefully consider the need to travel abroad.
If you need to travel you should:
- plan ahead, check for disruptions, avoid busiest routes and times
- avoid making unnecessary stops during your journey. If you need to stop for comfort breaks or to rest remember Hands-Face-Space
- avoid sharing a car with people who are not in your household (or support bubble). If you need to share a car as part of your Christmas Day bubble please take precautions by minimising the number of people travelling, all occupants wearing face coverings unless exempt, keeping windows open, sitting either side by side or one in front of the other and sanitising surfaces especially touch points like door handles, steering wheel, gear stick and seatbelts and wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before and after your journey.
- If you need to travel with your Christmas Day bubble, wherever you are, you should follow the advice here.
