Bradford Council support Road Safety Week

This week is Road Safety Week, the UK’s biggest road safety event, coordinated annually by Brake, the road safety charity. The week aims to inspire thousands of schools, organisations and communities to take action on road safety and promote life-saving messages during the week and beyond. This year's theme is No Need to Speed.

Road Safety Week 2020

No Need to Speed

In a crash, 1mph can mean the difference between life and death, but we know that people still regularly break speed limits or travel too fast for the conditions of the road. It’s time to come together to say that there is No Need to Speed. Find out about how you can shout out about road safety at work, at school or in your local community here.

Road Safety Team Resources

Schools encouraged to get involved

Bradford Council’s Road Safety Team are currently unable to visit schools due to COVID-19 restrictions but have created a series of presentations for teachers to deliver themselves in school. The presentations which are available for all primary schools across the district cover the Green Cross Code, reinforcing the rules for crossing roads safely. Contact roadsafety@bradford.gov.uk to find out more.

Highways Team

Keeping roads in the district safe

The Highways Team delivers local safety improvements to the highway installing 20mph zones, traffic calming, junction improvements and new crossings. Recently, the traffic teams have designed and installed all the new cycle infrastructure in the Bradford district such as the Pop Up Cycle Lanes.
