Types of projects that will be prioritised:
We want to support projects and organisations playing a vital role in helping their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We will prioritise:
- Projects supporting people and communities who experience disproportionate challenge and difficulty as a result of the COVID-19 crisis
I.e. projects which provide advice and support to those pushed in crisis as a result of the pandemic.
- Projects providing services and support for vulnerable people, for which there will be increased demand as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
i.e Projects to prevent domestic abuse and violence. Projects providing mental health support to mitigate the increased challenges of loneliness and isolation.
- Projects which connect communities and support communities to work together to respond to COVID-19
i.e Projects raising awareness of Covid-19 risks and testing. Projects promoting health and wellbeing interventions including volunteering, and community organising.
If you are seeking to apply for funding, then please ensure that your project meets at least one of the priorities
Do you deliver ESOL? If yes, we want to hear from you!
We are currently working on mapping ESOL provision across Bradford district. Mapping enables us to sign up providers onto the regional Learn English website, which will signpost new arrivals and migrants coming into Bradford to find appropriate ESOL provision to their current level of need. The website is funded through the programme and therefore free to all Bradford organisations and was developed by the Migrant English Support Hub (MESH). MESH is a charity dedicated to supporting adult migrant language learners in the Yorkshire & Humber region. It is designed to provide helpful information to providers, ESOL students and potential students.
We hope this will be completed before classes start in September. All ESOL providers delivering ESOL (informal, formal and volunteer led provision) will be able to share course information on the website. Here is the link for the Learning English website
We have contacted many Bradford providers informing them of our project, however, we are very mindful about ensuring all ESOL providers across the district are represented. So if your organisation delivers ESOL and we have not been in touch with you directly yet, please email lisa.mckeon@bradford.gov.uk or call 07971939360.

Coronavirus testing in Bradford District
Walk-in mobile testing units are available in community locations throughout the district. These testing units are a quick and easy way to get a coronarvirus test with or without an appointment.
The units are available for anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19, such as a high temperature, a new cough, or a change in sense of taste or smell, or thinks they may have the virus.
Face coverings
Wear a face covering on public transport and in shops and supermarkets. Wearing a face covering in shops and supermarkets in England is to become mandatory from 24 July, except children under 11 and those with certain disabilities.
Failing to wear a face covering could result in a fine of up to £100.
Please see our website for more information about face coverings including a short video by Dr Amir Khan showing how to safely put on and wear a face covering.
