Bradford Industrial Museum is the first to reopen
We're starting to reopen our museums and galleries, with our Bradford Industrial Museum being the first to reopen.
The museum opened to visitors for the first time in around four months yesterday after being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The museum has been awarded a Visit Britain 'We’re Good to Go' safety certificate showing that we're sticking to the Government and public health guidance, we've carried out a Covid-19 risk assessment and we've got the required processes in place.
Captain Tom Moore's Motorbike
Come and see the motorbike, which was recently discovered as once belonging to Captain Tom Moore, which has been given pride of place in the foyer to allow extra space for viewing.
You can still see the fascinating machines, the weaving gallery and other attractions on display. There are also exhibitions of the work of Bradford education pioneer Margaret McMillan and aerial photographer CH Wood.
We've laid out a safe one way route around the museum and there is a separate entrance and exit. The shop is open for safe souvenir buying and a socially distanced rest area offers a cuppa in comfort.
There will be hand sanitiser stations throughout the museum and extra cleaning routines will be in place.
We'll monitor visitor numbers so areas don’t get overcrowded and the museum will be open between 10am and 2pm Tuesday to Sunday to allow for extra cleaning.
When you visit please maintain social distancing (2m apart from people not in your household) and in line with government guidance it is recommended that visitors wear face coverings if possible.
Unfortunately, where it's not possible to maintain social distancing, some areas may remain closed,
You'll also be asked to leave your contact details to help with Test and Trace.
To make sure each museum can open safely, our other museums are planned to open in the following order
- Cartwright Hall 18 August - Cliffe Castle 25 August - Bolling Hall 9 September
Each museum needs to go through a series of checks, with measures put in place to make sure we can welcome people back safely.
