Following the Government’s relaxation of some of the Covid-19 restrictions, our libraries team are preparing for the safe reopening of services over the coming weeks.
We are unable to fully open all the services at our libraries safely at the moment, so we are starting with the re-opening of three main libraries for a new 'Order & Collect' service and the return of books only.
All other services and other libraries across the district will remain closed until it is safe for them to reopen.
New 'Order & Collect' Service
This service is being launched at three main libraries in the district (Shipley from Monday 6 July and Keighley and City from Wednesday 8 July)
How the Order & Collect service works:
- Reserve your books online, by email or phone
- If you'd like help with book choices or to discuss your reading preferences, give us a ring or email and we'll put together a pack of books.
- When you place your order you'll be given a time slot between 10am and 3pm for when you can collect your books
- There will be a single collection point in each library
- Social distancing rules will be applied, protective screens will be used in some areas and staff will be equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE) where necessary.
- You'll be able to return books when you collect your orders. There will be no fines or charges for late returns and returned books will have a period of quarantine before they are available for re-loan.
The ‘Order and Collect’ service will be rolled out to other libraries across the district in the following weeks and dates will be confirmed as this happens.
Home Delivery Service Resumes
Our Home Library Service for those who have difficulties getting to our libraries will resume from 6 July.
To allow for social distancing and for yours and our safety, we'll place the books on your doorstep and move away, as opposed to carrying the books inside. We'll contact sheltered housing and nursing home staff make arrangements for them to accept books on residents’ behalf.
