Four Household Waste Recyling Centres to re-open.
Four of Bradford’s Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) will re-open on Monday, 11 May, following temporary closure due to Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The HWRCs re-opening are as follows:
-
Bowling Back Lane will be open from Monday to Friday 5pm to 10pm. Saturday & Sunday, 8am to 8pm.
-
Keighley, from Monday to Friday 5pm to 10pm. Saturday and Sunday, 8am to 8pm.
-
Dealburn Road, Low Moor, seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.
-
Midland Road, seven days a week from 8am to 8pm.
Safety will remain the priority and we would ask anyone using the sites to comply with all the social distancing rules when throwing rubbish away and queuing.
We would also ask people not to use the sites unless absolutely necessary at this time. We want to avoid massive queues of traffic on nearby roads.
Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “Please bear in mind that there are likely to be long queues for the Household Waste sites in the first days of opening.
“We would ask everybody to carefully consider whether they desperately need to use the site at this time. Government advice clearly states that you must only travel to the site if it is absolutely necessary.
“This deadly virus takes every opportunity to spread when people congregate, so for the safety of yourselves, other residents and staff, please take advantage of bulky waste collection service or store your rubbish at home for as long as possible.”
Everyone using Bradford Council’s Household Waste Recycling Centres will need to show a residents’ permit from inside the vehicle with the windows up, and observe new social distancing rules at all times. If you have lost your permit please contact the Council for a replacement. As soon as we are able to open the rest of our HWRCs we will announce it.
You can read the Government guidelines for HWRC re-opening here.
Bulky waste service resumes
The bulky waste service organised by Bradford Council -which was also suspended due to the outbreak – has also now been reinstated from Monday, 11 May, using a specialist company which is able to operate the service in a safe manner. This is a temporary arrangement until we can safely re-instate our own bulk collection service.
There is a charge which people can book and pay for over the phone or through our website.
Items that will be collected include furniture, beds, bikes, carpets, mattresses, garden furniture, mirrors, central heating boilers and even bags of garden waste.
For a full list see the Council website which also contains a list of charges which are £20 for up to five items to £40 for six to 10 items.
You can make a payment and arrange for a bulky waste collection on our website or call 01274 431000.
