Clap for carers - 2 metre rule
Clap for carers takes place every Thursday at 8pm, which celebrates the fantastic work undertaken by the NHS and key workers dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
Everyone steps outside at 8pm and claps, households bang pots and pans whilst some will play musical instruments.
Please can we remind everyone taking part in this great accolade to key workers to maintain the 2 metre social distance rule whilst showing their support.
Great work by area hubs
Work by Bradford’s Area Hubs continues to provide vital Community support to those in need during the present coronavirus (Covid-19) emergency.
Based in the district’s five Parliamentary constituencies, the multi-agency hubs were set up by Bradford Council Area Co-ordinators Offices to co-ordinate the work of various public sector, charity and private bodies as well as volunteers during the lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of the virus.
Born in Bradford study
If you have been involved in the Born in Bradford study at any stage, BiB may contact you to ask you about how coronavirus has affected your family.
Please look out for them as they will either call you, email or write to you.
Your feedback will be invaluable in helping understand the wider impacts of Covid-19 across our district, so please take part!

Bradford is gearing up for its 15th Pride event with its first online festival which is set to be a celebration of the district’s LGBTQ+ community. Expect a virtual extravaganza of musicians, drag queens, poets and campaigners on May 9 5pm to 10pm via the Bradford Pride social media platforms.
Bradford coronavirus regional testing centre opens for key workers
A drive-through coronavirus testing facility is open from Wednesday 29 April 2020 at the University of Bradford Great Horton Road car park as part of the Government’s UK-wide drive to increase testing for thousands more NHS and other essential workers.
The site sits alongside a rapidly expanding network of testing sites being set up around the UK, and is operating on an appointment-only basis for NHS staff and other key workers. The facility will be piloted for its first few days of operation.

Guidance for parents and carers on supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is going to affect daily life, as the government and the NHS take necessary steps to manage the pandemic, reduce transmission and treat those who need medical attention.
Regardless of their age, this may be a difficult time for children and young people. Some may react immediately, while others may show signs of difficulty later on.
Social distancing for shops - updated government guidance
The guidance on social distancing in the workplace has been updated to include information for shops running a pick-up or delivery service. This includes:
- Shops should ensure no orders are taken in person on the premises.
- Shops should only take orders online or by telephone and communicate this to customers by clear signage in store and online.
- Where customers are collecting items, they should have staggered collection times.
- Where queuing is taking place, a queue management system should be in place to maintain a safe distance.
- No goods or food should be physically handed over to the customer
Staying safe on-line
