We had a fantastic time at Green Lane Primary School learning about the Yorkshire 2019 UCI Road World Championships.

Children from the Priestley Academy Trust (Atlas, Green Lane, Westbourne, Lilycroft and Margaret McMillan primary schools) welcomed children from Sandal Primary School in Baildon to an assembly.

The children found out more about the cycling race and also got to meet cycling legend Mandy Jones. Mandy won the women’s road race when the championships last came to Britain in 1982.

The Women Elite Road Race of this year’s championships will start in City Park, Bradford on 28 September. Come down for a free event with official race caravan, watch the race set off and join in the celebrations. 

 

On the same day there will also be a Pedal & Picnic event in Bradford District Parks Lister Park with lots of fun, free family activities.

The race also goes through Baildon, where there will also be community activities.

Come join in the fun and cycle a vehicle-free route through the city centre on World Car Free Day. Activities including a climbing wall and a spider mountain. Guided rides and bike loans. Adapted bikes for mixed ability riders and bike maintenance.
