50 Days to go - City Park

Bradford marked the 50 days to go until the UCI Road World Championships comes to Yorkshire with a tour of their official race flag.

The prestigious cycle event comes to Yorkshire 21-29 September. On Saturday 28 September, City Park in Bradford city centre will see the start of the Women Elite Road Race, which goes through Lister Park, Shipley, the bottom of Baildon and Hollins Hill. The Men Elite Road Race comes through the district via Ilkley and Addingham on Sunday 29 September.


The official flag was welcomed to City Park in the morning of Friday 2 August by members of the Queensbury Queens and the Bingley Belles.

Lister Park was the next location on the tour where local young people, Councillor Sarah Ferriby the Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, as well as parks and museum staff received the flag.

The final stop on the tour was Ilkley Lido where representatives of Ilkley Cycling Club cheered the flag.

There will also be lots of things for people to do on the weekend and in the run-up to the event, including getting involved in dressing the route and creating land art. More details about the activities and events, as well as operational details such as road closures will be released in the coming weeks.
