Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all our staff in the recycling and waste department.
We'd like to thank you for your efforts to recycle more and waste less. We have noticed quite a difference this year in the amount of waste we are collecting.
We have collected more recycling and less waste than in previous years, so well done, keep up the good work.
Watch the video below...some of our collection crews and recycling advisors wishing you a Merry Christmas! Oh, and don't forget to look out for the photo bomber in the background!
If you're celebrating have a great time, if not, enjoy the time off work and spending time with family and friends.
Before you get really busy with all the festivities, make sure you know what's happening with your bins.
If your collection day is affected, you should also have a bin hanger on your bin telling you the new dates.
General waste and recycling bins -
If your bin is due to be emptied on Christmas Day, it will be emptied earlier, on Saturday 22nd December.
If your bin is due to be emptied on Boxing Day, it will be collected the following Saturday, 29th December.
If your bin is due to be emptied on New Year's Day, it will be emptied on Saturday 5th January 2019 instead.
Scheduled collections on any other days remain the same as normal.
Garden waste bins - Don't forget, there are no garden waste collections between 3 December 2018 and 2 January 2019.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby at the launch of the 'New to me' reuse shop
The ‘New to Me’ re-use shop was launched last Friday at Bowling Back Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre. And guess what...on its first day you raised over £99 for The Lord Mayors' Appeal, which is fantastic!
The goods on offer include anything from items of furniture to ornaments, pots, pans, cutlery, dvds, books and cds. These items can be taken by members of the public who want them in exchange for a £1 donation to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal for charity.
Come and see what you can get for £1 and help make a difference in someone else's life. We're open Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm.
For further information visit our website.
Don't forget to make recycling part of your festive celebrations. Make sure you recycle all your discarded wrapping paper, boxes, bottles, cans and aluminium foil, including those foil sweet wrappers and mince pie cases too! After its all over, remember to recycle your Christmas cards by making them into something for next year or by simply putting them in your recycling bin.
Don't forget, you can chop up your Christmas tree and put it in your garden waste bin or alternatively, take it to your local household waste recycling centre.
Some local charities also collect Christmas trees for a small donation to charity.
