Alternate week collections starting in your area soon

To make our bin collection service more efficient and reduce the cost of waste disposal, we are introducing alternate week bin collections. Alternate week collections will start today (2 May 2017) in the Keighley and Shipley constituencies and from 4 July 2017 for the rest of the Bradford district.

What does this mean?

Your general waste (green) bin will not be emptied weekly.

Your general waste (green) bin will be emptied one week and your recycling (grey) bin will be emptied the following week.

Your collection day will be the same day for both bins but emptied on alternate weeks.

When will my bins be collected?

Your collection day may change, we will still come to empty a bin once a week, but will alternate between your grey and green bins.  Please look out for a letter through your door telling you about your new collection day.

Bradford App

You can check further bin collection dates online OR if you have a smart phone or tablet, you can download our free app from the Google Play store or Apple App Store. Just search for Bradford Council. It will remind you when to put your bins out for collection.

What about all in one recycling?

If you live in the Wyke ward, Keighley and Shipley constituencies, remember, all recyclable items can now go all in one recycling bin, either the grey bin or grey bin with a blue lid. You do not need to separate your paper anymore, this can go in with all other recycling items. You can now recycle plastic food trays, margarine/butter tubs, yoghurt pots, food and drinks cartons. Please rinse them out to remove any remaining food or liquid. The rest of Bradford will start all in one reycling from 31 May 2017.
