Geomagnetic Storm Forecast 01 - September - 2025
We are expecting an increase in geomagnetic activity over the next few days due to increased solar activity.
An asymmetric full-halo Coronal mass ejection (CME) left the Sun on Saturday 30th August 2025. It was associated with a long duration M-class solar flare which peaked at 20:02 UT originating from an active region near the centre of the solar disc.
The CME is expected to arrive in the second half of 1st September and is likely to lead to a significant enhancement in geomagnetic activity, making STORM periods likely, potentially peaking at moderate (G3) or strong (G4) levels.
Assuming clear dark skies, there is an increased chance of seeing the aurora tonight and possibly tomorrow. Those in Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland have the best chance if the weather is favourable.
