Geomagnetic Storm Update 7 - October- 2024
A coronal mass ejection associated with an X9.0 flare on the 3rd of Oct. arrived at 07:40 UT on the 6th. Geomagnetic conditions reached STORM G2 levels in response and residual effects are continuing, but with a declining trend in intensity.
Assuming clear dark skies, there may still be a small chance of seeing the aurora tonight (7th Oct.). Those in Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland have the best chance if the weather is favourable.
