Geomagnetic storm forecast 23nd March 2024
Minor geomagnetic activity is occurring this evening with aurora sightings reported across the UK.
A further geomagnetic storm is expected on the night of 24th - 25th March due to the anticipated arrival of a coronal mass ejection (CME) associated with an X-class solar flare launched on the 23rd March.
Assuming clear, dark skies, there is a chance of seeing the aurora between 23rd - 25th March. Those in Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland have a better chance if the skies are cloud free.
