Heat Network Supply Chain Event - Meet the Buyer: 10th December

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority invites you to the first in a new series of Heat Network Supply Chain events.

Taking place in Manchester from 09.30 – 14.00 on the 10th December, this event is designed to connect project developers, contractors, suppliers, public bodies, and training providers. You will hear about upcoming heat network opportunities across the UK, how supply chain growth can be supported, steps taken to address barriers to skills and delivery and lessons from current projects.

Technical Assurance Scheme Stakeholder Forum: 20th November & Publication of the Technical Standard (TS1)

Following the completion of the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS) Pilot Programme for new build heat networks, the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero is holding a stakeholder forum to talk through the findings on Thursday 20^th November, 15.00 – 16.30.

The draft HNTAS technical requirements and assessment process were tested on several new build heat networks. We will be sharing our findings as well as the changes that we've already made to simplify and improve the scheme click here to sign up to the online stakeholder consultation forum

A report of key findings will be published following the session.

TS1 – the Heat Network Technical Standard is now available in a draft format. Once finalised this document will serve as the principal reference point for the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme and will supersede the Heat Networks: Code of Practice for the UK (CP1) on which it is largely based.

The final version will be released before the launch of HNTAS.

Advanced Zoning Programme - Market Engagement Webinar: 25th November 2025

The next session in our ongoing series of market engagement webinars will focus on the opportunities coming to market through the AZP. The event will take place on Tuesday 25th November, 09.00 – 10.00. This event will be of interest to heat network developers, the supply chain, investors and professional service organisations.

We’ll hear updates from projects in Stockport and Trafford and Liverpool. We will also be seeking your feedback on the webinar series so far and what you’d like to hear about in the future. Register your attendance here.

ESA Energy from Waste report and guidance

The Environmental Services Association (ESA) has published its Guide to Energy from Waste (EfW) Heat Offtake that supports the potential of EfW facilities to export low-carbon heat in the UK.

The guide outlines technical, commercial, and regulatory considerations for EfW heat offtake - including checklists for developers, operators and wider stakeholders. It is supported by the ESA’s updated Heat Network Prospectus which provides insight into the heat available at a range of operational EfW facilities. Through an interactive map, individual heat customers can gain detailed information about each facility, including up-to-date contact details.
