Heat network opportunity list published
The Department for Energy Security & Net Zero is publishing a list of potential heat network projects for prospective heat network developers.
The list contains projects where early stage feasibility studies conducted by the Heat Networks Delivery Unit are available on request. If you are interested in further information about any of these potential opportunities, please contact HNDU@energysecurity.gov.uk.

|
A potential new £10m heat network in Bournemouth, with an NHS building being the key anchor load, and location for the energy centre.

Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council
|
A potential new £10m heat network with key heat off-takers including council buildings, a leisure centre, large private sector consumers and a historic buildings complex.

Durham County Council
|
A potential new £30m combined town centre and campus heat network providing low carbon heat from the River Wear. Key heat off takers include Durham County Council, a higher education institution, and several new build residential developments.

Oxford City Council
|
A potential £40m new heat network with Oxford City Council and higher education institutions as key heat off-takers and including significant new development within the city Science Area.

Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council
|
A potential £20m heat network in Poole (Twin Sails East) with key heat off-takers including a campus building, a housing partnership multi-storey building and other nearby new developments.

Slough Borough Council

An opportunity to expand and upgrade an existing heat network to incorporate a new leisure centre and extend to the town centre, a trading estate with commercial users and an NHS building.

A large project with 27 potential loads including Portsmouth City Council, Ministry of Defence, and higher education institution buildings.

Bromsgrove District Council
|
A potential £10m scheme within Bromsgrove town centre with key heat off-takers being the council, NHS buildings, and residential buildings.

Procurement and project pipelines
The latest quarterly pipeline and procurement pipeline documents are also now available. Both documents cover the period of April - June 2023.
The project pipeline now equates to a Capital expenditure total of £2.756m, of which £315m is under construction. £1.988m relates to projects for which Heat Network Investment Project or Green Heat Network Fund applications have been made.
