Energy Bills Support Scheme update
Last week the government set out further details of the Energy Bills Support Scheme (EBSS) following the technical consultation which ran from April to May.
Under the EBSS, households will start receiving £400 off their energy bills from October, with the discount made in six instalments to help families throughout the winter period.
As part of this package, we can confirm that funding will be available to provide equivalent support of £400 for energy bills for the 1% of households who will not be reached through the EBSS.
This includes those who do not have a domestic electricity meter or a direct relationship with an electricity supplier, including heat network consumers on a private wire system.
We will announce details in the Autumn of how these households will receive the £400 support.
As confirmed previously, heat network consumers who do have a domestic electricity meter will receive £400 off their energy bills through the EBSS.
