During the winter while garden waste collections are suspended, why not give home composting a go? It's easy to make with fallen leaves and uncooked food waste, providing you with a rich compost to use around the garden, for free!
For more information about home composting and compost bins available at subsidised prices please visit our webpage.
Garden waste can also be taken to the Household Waste Recycling Centre on Barkers Lane for composting throughout the year. To ensure the safety of residents and staff onsite, an appointment must be booked before you go, please visit www.bedford.gov.uk/hwrc for more information and to book a slot.
During this time of National Restrictions, collections of household waste and recycling will continue as normal.
Bulky waste collections will also continue but the service is very busy and bookings are being taken several weeks in advance. For more information about the bulky waste collection service please visit our website.
The Household Waste Recycling Centre on Barkers Lane will remain open. To manage demand and ensure that the public and staff can be socially distanced, an appointment must be booked before visiting the site. You can book an appointment online at www.bedford.gov.uk/hwrc.
