Ahead of the first weekend of the new national restrictions, we are reminding people to play their part and stay at home as much as possible.
With COVID-19 cases rising rapidly across the country, the Government is calling on people to stay at home to protect the NHS, and save lives.
The best way to slow the spread of infection is to reduce our day-to-day contact with others.
That is why everyone is being asked to stay at home as much as possible, and avoid meeting people that they do not live with, except for specific purposes such as work where this cannot be done from home.
By slowing the spread of the virus, we can all protect the NHS to ensure that our healthcare system can continue to treat those who need it, and save lives.
We have relaunched the Community Hub to provide support for vulnerable residents. If you are in need of information and guidance during this lockdown, or if you need support to get food deliveries or assistance with prescriptions, please get in touch with the Community Hub.
The Hub can be contacted via 01234 718101 or Covid19help@bedford.gov.uk.
Our webpage www.bedford.gov.uk/wellbeing offers advice and signposting to help residents stay healthy in what continues to be an extremely difficult and uncertain year.
This page includes a range of materials, such as:
- Exercise tips including indoor games for kids, live fitness classes, and seated exercises
- Mental health advice and links to services that can provide help
- Food and nutritional guidance including Change4Life resources, recipes and cooking videos
- Further Public Health advice including sexual health, stop smoking, drugs and alcohol, health checks and emotional wellbeing
With more cases of COVID-19 and Government restrictions to keep us all safe, Remembrance Day will look very different this year.
This year's reduced COVID-secure Remembrance Day Service is being broadcast online in partnership with the Bedford Independent, and by radio by Hospital Radio Bedford.
Please remember those who lost their lives and those affected by war and conflict around the world safely. The live broadcast will begin from 10.50am on Sunday 8 November.

The centre is located at the Polhill Campus Car Park, on Polhill Avenue, for anybody in the borough who needs a test.
It will be open everyday providing testing for students at the University and local residents. It expands on the local testing availability currently provided at Borough Hall and Prebend Street car parks in the town.
As a walk-in site, residents must either walk or cycle to the site, not drive or take public transport. Strict safety control measures will be in place; a face covering will need to be worn and social distancing must be followed at all times.
Anyone experiencing any of the symptoms; a new, persistent cough, high temperature, loss or change in sense of smell or taste, should immediately self-isolate at home with the rest of their household and arrange a test.
Drive through testing is also still available in Bedford.
To book a test you can visit nhs.uk/coronavirus or call 119, seven days a week.
