Covanta - Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility, Stewartby

Covanta has partnered with the Green Investment Group and Veolia to develop the Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility at Rookery South Pit , a former brick clay extraction pit, near Stewartby in Bedfordshire (England). The new facility will be a sustainable alternative to landfill, using household, commercial and non-hazardous industrial residual waste, left after recycling and composting efforts, as a fuel to generate clean electricity. The facility, which is now in its construction phase and is expected to commence full commercial operations in 2022, will provide a vital outlet for the sustainable disposal of over 545,000 tonnes of residual waste per year and will generate over 60 megawatts of low carbon energy - enough electricity to meet the needs of over 112,500 homes.

 

Shift Plant Operator (Control Room Operator) x 5

The Shift Plant Operator (CRO) is responsible for the safe operation of the Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility. Reporting directly to the Operations Shift Team Leader, the Shift Plant Operator will coordinate and carryout the plant operational activities safely, efficiently and in line with Covanta procedures, whilst ensuring the facility is operationally compliant with the environment permit.

Assistant Shift Plant Operator (Auxiliary Operator) x 10

The Assistant Shift Plant Operator (AO) is responsible for the safe operation of the Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility. Reporting directly to the Operations Shift Team Leader, the Assistant Shift Plant Operator will coordinate and carryout the on plant operational activities safely, efficiently and in line with Covanta procedures, whilst ensuring the facility is operationally compliant with the environment permit.

Recycling Refuse Operative - Bedford Borough Council

Salary: £19,312 - 19,698 

Hours: 37                           Contract: Full time permanent  

Closing date: 20th November 2020

As a member of a team, you will collect waste and recycling containers from domestic and trade properties, including collecting and delivering of domestic and trade waste including bulky household waste and hazardous equipment and loading it into a suitable vehicle.
You will assist the driver in the safe manoeuvring of the vehicle which will involve supporting as a reversing assistant and assisting with daily defect checks and weekly cleaning of the vehicle.
