Issues and Options Consultation and Call for Sites

Local Plans set out where growth and development will take place - everything from homes and jobs to schools and infrastructure. Bedford Borough Council already has a Local Plan in place up to 2030. With changes to national planning policy and proposals around the Oxford to Cambridge Arc – which Bedford Borough is at the heart of - we now need to look further ahead, so we are carrying out a Local Plan Review and want to hear your thoughts by 4^th September 5pm.

The new local plan will identify land for development by allocating sites. If you know of a site that may have development potential, or if you are a landowner, business or developer and have a site you would like to bring to our attention, please complete a site submission form by 14^th August 5pm. All sites proposed will be considered for inclusion in the plan.

Housing Strategy Consultation

Bedford Borough Council has produced a draft Housing Strategy 2021 – 2026 for public consultation.   The draft strategy sets out how the Council intends to manage and deliver its strategic housing role. It provides an overarching framework against which the Council will consider and formulate other policies on more specific housing issues.    MORE INFORMATION HERE

Ward Boundary Consultation

The Local Government Boundary Commission have reopened the public consultation on new boundaries across the district until 20 July 2020. The original consultation phase was disrupted by lockdown.   MORE INFO HERE

Stevington Neighbourhood Development Plan & Turvey Neighbourhood Development Plan Consultations

In accordance with Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, Bedford Borough Council is inviting representations on the Turvey Neighbourhood Development Plan and the Stevington Neighbourhood Development Plan for a period of 6 weeks. The submission plans and supporting documents are available on the consultation website.
