Play Area Projects - Making a Big Difference

Belvoir Walk Play Area

A breath of fresh air for Bedford Borough Council play spaces

This year local volunteers alongside the Council's Events Team and a number of your Ward Councillors have been refreshing some of Bedford's play areas with great success so far! Take a look at the improvements made by a group of volunteers just last week in Belvoir Walk. We supply all of the equipment so if you would like to get involved in our next events, here are a couple of dates for your diary:

  • St Johns Play Area, Buttermere Close, Kempston - 10am on 14th September
  • Balliol Road Play Area, Kempston - 10am on 21st September

If you think that your local play area could do with a clean up or a fresh lick of paint and would like to be involved in making a big change, we would love to hear from you. Contact volunteering@bedford.gov.uk to find out more or to organise a community project like this.

Fancy being part of something new?

Time Garden

Norse Road Cemetery Volunteers

We are asking anyone interested in becoming part of a new community volunteering group at Norse Road Cemetery to get in touch. The area has always been cared for by both staff and volunteers in previous years, and we would love to be able to keep the area looking beautiful for years to come. No matter whether you can offer an hour here and there, or commit to a weekly task day, it would be great to hear from you. Ground maintenance/gardening experience isn’t required, just enthusiasm to make a real difference to enhance the site.

Time Garden Volunteers

The Embankment in the heart of Bedford is a real showstopper with its beautiful bedding displays and ornate bridges. We are looking for a handful of dedicated individuals to help us to return the Time Garden on the edge of Russell Park and The Embankment back to its former glory. If this project interests you, then please get in touch. We will be planning the first task session in the garden in the next few weeks so it would be lovely to have you on board!

To register interest in either of these opportunities, please contact volunteering@bedford.gov.uk.
