Your Christmas soundtrack

Dry turkey?

Freegal

Stream or download free music

If you're feeling a bit bah humbug about shelling out for Christmas music that you only listen to once a year, why not use your library card to download some festive tunes at no cost? Or even better, stream festive music for free to create a bit of yuletide ambience at your party!

Freegal music allows library members to download up to five songs each week plus you can stream music for up to three hours a day! They've even created some playlists especially for the festive season so you'll discover new and old classics. All you need is your library card and PIN to set up an account with Freegal.

Cookery books and e-magazines

Are you determined not to get any complaints about dry turkey this year? Maybe your vegan neighbours are coming round and you have no idea what to cook? Or do you just fancy trying something completely different?

We've got Christmas dinner covered with dozens of cookery books dedicated to the most stressful mealtime of the year. From Mary to Gordon, Jamie to Nadiya, and all non-celebrity chefs in between, we're sure you'll find something for your perfect Christmas spread. Remember, you can also download e-magazines for free, including BBC Good Food and Olive, as well as Good Housekeeping and Ideal Homes to help create your perfect winter wonderland.

Orange bags

Remember, you can collect your orange recycling bags from any library in Bedford Borough. Why not borrow a book or two while you're there for when you get a quiet moment over the festive period? If you pop into Bedford Central Library you can also buy a selection of charity Christmas cards.

Not sure whether you can recycle your wrapping paper or not? Try the scrunch test, as demonstrated by our friend Santa.
