- The Friends of Harrold-Odell Country Park won the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (the MBE for volunteer groups!) this year - a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the wonderful efforts and activities carried out by this dedicated group.
- Did you know that Bedford is home to four Green Flag award-winning parks? Bedford Park, Harrold-Odell Country Park, Priory Country Park, Addison-Howard Park all received this prestigious accolade in 2018. Mowsbury Hillfort and Hill Rise Nature Reserve also received the Green Flag Community Award this year. If you would like to get involved with any of the volunteer groups in these parks, simply get in touch at volunteering@bedford.gov.uk.
- 2018 saw our most successful well-attended annual Rivercare event yet! Close to 200 volunteers came along to help clean up the Embankment and the River Great Ouse. Plus an entire skip full of rubbish was taken away from the site.
