Register to vote GE17 18-24 yr olds

To vote in the June 8 General Election, you need to register to vote by 22 May 2017.

It’s quick and easy to register, it should take just a few minutes…about the same time as it takes to make a cuppa!

If you're aged between 18-24, or if you know a family member or friend in that age bracket, encourage them to register to vote because only three out of every ten 18 - 24 year olds are currently registered!

You can register online at www.bedford.gov.uk/register-to-vote

General Election 2017- Job Opportunities

Bedford Borough Council are looking to recruit a large number of staff to be employed in a number of roles including Polling Station staff, Postal Vote Issuing & Opening staff and Count staff.

The roles dealing with Postal Votes are likely to be approaching full time working hours in the run up to polling day.

On 8 June Polling Stations will be open between 7am and 10pm and the counts will be held overnight from 10pm. Opportunities for Presiding Officers and Polling Clerks are available across Bedford and north east Bedfordshire. Polling Station staff will need to be able to get to the Polling Station where they are designated to work ahead of Polls opening through to their close. Presiding Officers will then need to get their Ballot Box to their count venue as soon as possible after 10pm. Count staff will be based at one of the count venues and will verify and count the ballot papers through the night.
