A new community-led programme aimed at helping children, young people and families become more active is launching across Shirebrook and Pleasley.
Shirebrook On the Move will bring together residents, schools, community groups, local organisations and public sector partners to create more opportunities for people to move more, improve their wellbeing and enjoy the benefits of a physically active lifestyle.
The project will be coordinated by Bolsover Partnership, working alongside Bolsover District Council, Active Derbyshire, Sport England, schools, community organisations and residents.
To mark the upcoming Bolsover Loop Week we celebrate three Council officers who completed the 26-mile route in one day.
The intrepid trio are believed to be among just a handful of people who have walked the full distance of the scenic trail, mapped out by the district council, in one session.
The staff members are encouraging others to join in The Big Bolsover Loop Week, which runs from Monday, September 21 to Sunday, September 27 and encourages people to get out and exploring a section of the loop, whether by walking, wheeling or cycling.

Stella Scott, Chair of Bolsover Partnership has released her first update since taking the role:
Welcome to my first Chair's Report.
Having now been in post for three months, I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself and share some of the work that has been taking place during my first few months as Independent Chair of the Bolsover Partnership.
My background is rooted in successful partnership working, both within Erewash and across the wider Derbyshire area. Although I retired in 2024, I quickly realised how much I missed the opportunity to collaborate with others, build networks and make a positive difference in our communities. When this role became available, I was delighted to put myself forward.

We're looking for residents who have moved to the district in the last 12 to 18 months to take part in a filmed roundtable discussion and share their experiences of building a life here.
Help us showcase the real stories behind our growing communities.
