 Bolsover District Council has awarded £400,000 to Ashgate Hospice to ensure patients in the district continue to receive home-based care.
The allocation of funding, originally set aside in the Council’s Medium-Term Finance Plan, which represents a £100,000 annual contribution to the cash-strapped hospice over the next four years, was unanimously supported by members during a meeting of the local authority’s Executive on Monday, July 27.
Committee members heard how vital the hospice’s services are to local patients and their families in times of need and that, of the 2,537 people supported by the hospice last year, 395 were Bolsover district residents.
The Dog Management Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) that we currently have in place is due to expire on 26 October 2026. We are seeking your views on the proposed renewal of the PSPO for another three years.

Last Sunday was the official opening of South Normanton’s new pump track located on South Street Recreation Ground.

Schoolchildren teamed up with a community artist to create a vibrant mural on the gable end of their school building.
Year 2 pupils from Brigg Infant School, in South Normanton, worked with local artist Lucie Maycock to create the eye-catching artwork.
As the school backs onto the village’s South Street Recreation Ground, the whole community can enjoy the colourful creation.
It features elements of nature, including a fox, leaves inspired by the local area and a ladybird whose dots are the fingerprints of all 40 youngsters involved in bringing the design to life.
