 A plan to revitalise Shirebrook Market Place is nearing completion.
Bolsover District Council has invested £2million into the delivery of the final two phases of the Shirebrook Market RE:imagined project which has seen the area completely renovated.
The project has seen public realm improvements and the installation of a pavilion, market store, and public toilets. The next step towards the opening of marketplace will see Bolsover District Council formally hand the site back to Shirebrook Town Council. BDC is very keen to do this so that it can be reopened as soon as the works are completed in May.
Seven of the Community Partner Agencies serving Bolsover District will benefit from an increase in funds thanks to Bolsover District Council.
The organisations are all currently part funded by the Council but a decision has been made to increase the amount of grant money they give out.
Bolsover Community Voluntary Service, Citizens Advice North East Derbyshire, Derbyshire Law Centre, Derbyshire Unemployed Workers Centre, Junction Arts, Rural Action Derbyshire and East Midlands Asbestos Support Team will all benefit from extra grant money.

On Wednesday 22 April 2026, an oral hearing took place at the High Court in Leeds concerning a claim brought by a local resident seeking permission to apply for a judicial review of the Council’s decision to grant outline planning permission for a mixed‑use development known locally as Clowne Garden Village.
The Honourable Mr Justice Mould ruled that permission for the review should be refused on all grounds, meaning the claim will not proceed to a judicial review. This decision reaffirmed an earlier written ruling made by the Court in 2026.

A Civil Injunction has been granted against a 15-year-old boy to protect members of the public, residents and local businesses in Bolsover.
The individual has caused significant anti-social behaviour in Bolsover and action was taken previously to grant an interim injunction. This has now been turned into a full injunction lasting 12-months. This sort of action is rare but deemed necessary in this case due to the nature of the behaviour. The injunction carries strict conditions that the teen must abide by, and a Power of Arrest has been included for all the terms of the order.

A group of Councillors and senior staff attended site visits to some of our key projects.
They went to Ashbourne Court, Alder House and Roseland Park and Crematorium in Shirebrook, Woburn House in Blackwell and Jubilee Court and Pinxton Church Hall in Pinxton.
The visits were so the group could see the progress of the sites and speak to locals to get their views on the projects.
