Collections start week commencing 30 March 2026
Following a decision by government to make food recycling mandatory for all households, Bolsover District Council are delivering the caddies from now with collections due to begin from 30 March. Wherever possible, the new caddies will be delivered on the same day as your refuse collection day.
Food waste contributes to 8% to 10% of total greenhouse gas emissions and these collections are being introduced to help reduce that.
The new food waste caddies are smaller than your normal household waste bin, with a handle instead of wheels and will be collected weekly alongside residents’ existing bins and should be presented at by 6am on collection day.
A Grassmoor resident has paid a £200 fixed penalty notice for failing in their duty of care to check a waste collector they paid to remove their waste was licensed.
A significant quantity of fly tipping was found near Villas Road in Bolsover and investigated by an Enforcement Officer. Evidence was found linking the waste to a domestic property and the resident accepted the fixed penalty to avoid prosecution.
