Leaders of seven of Derbyshire’s district and borough councils, together with the Leader of Derby City Council, have officially submitted their local government reorganisation proposals to the Government – setting out the clear benefits of creating two new unitary councils to deliver all services to local people in the future.
The ‘One Derbyshire, Two Councils’ plan proposes to reduce the number of local authorities covering Derbyshire from 10 to two, with one covering the north of the county, and one covering the south.
Bolsover District Council is reviewing the need for a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in Shirebrook and Langwith Junction. We are consulting all community representatives/interested parties.
A PSPO is a provision, created by the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, which is intended to deal with persistent and unreasonable conduct by individuals in a public place which is detrimental to the local community’s quality of life.
Over three magical days, Bright Winter Nights lit up Bolsover Castle with breath taking projections, immersive soundscapes, and interactive artworks — all leading to the spectacular Bolsover Lantern Parade on Saturday 29th November. Now in its 32nd year, the Lantern Parade is one of the UK’s biggest and longest-running light processions. Starting at Bolsover Castle, the community-made lanterns illuminated the town, ending at the Cenotaph with festive Christmas carols. The Town Centre was buzzing with stalls at Cavendish Walk, the Assembly Rooms, and Bolsover Castle — with free entry for Bolsover District residents. This celebration of creativity and community spirit was proudly organised by Old Bolsover Town Council and Junction Arts.
When planning a night out this Christmas take the time to think about how you are going to get back home.
Pre-booking your return journey for a Christmas night out means you have the reassurance that you have a way to get home. During the festive season it can be difficult to get a taxi the later you leave it.
Book a licensed vehicle in advance through a licensed Private Hire Operator. This forms a contract between yourself and the Operator and you should be advised of the price at the time of booking. It is also recommended to check how the driver is to be paid ie: card and/or cash.
