Reapply for your postal vote

Following changes introduced by the Elections Act 2022, postal votes arrangements cannot last longer than three years.

Any domestic elector with a postal vote granted on or before 30 January 2024 must reapply by 31 January 2026.If a new application is not received by this date, the Electoral Registration Officer is required by law to cancel the postal vote, and electors will have to vote in a polling station until a new postal vote application is received.

Shopfront improvement scheme launched

A new shopfront improvement scheme has been launched in Bolsover.

The scheme was launched by Bolsover District Council thanks to £15million regeneration funding that will support a range of projects across the district through to spring 2028.

The scheme offers support to eligible businesses to improve the look and feel of their shopfronts and building facades.

Have your say on Tree and Woodland Strategy

Your thoughts are wanted on a new strategy to guide how our trees and woodlands are protected, managed, and expanded across the district. The strategy sets out a long-term vision that seeks to improve canopy cover, support biodiversity, and encourage greater community involvement in tree care and planting.

There are three key priorities:

taking care of existing trees and woodlands
expanding tree and woodland coverage
fostering community pride in trees and woodlands

Food pantries

Following the closure of the Freedom Community Project we have reviewed our food support webpage and added some extra food pantries that are either in or just outside the district.

Resident fined for accumulated waste

A South Normanton woman has been found to have breached a Community Protection Notice (CPN) in relation to accumulated waste at her property.

The woman was issued the CPN due to a build up of waste at the rear of her rented property. A condition of the notice was that she cleared the waste, when she did not, Bolsover District Council took the matter to court.

Mayor wants your views on Transport Plan

The Mayor of the East Midlands has launched the region’s biggest listening exercise in decades – a 12-week conversation to shape a bold new 15-year transport vision.

The Local Transport high-level vision explores the Mayor’s objectives to make travel across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire easier, cleaner and better connected.

Residents, businesses and community groups are now being invited to take part in the Mayor’s Big Transport Conversation, to help shape the development of the full Plan.
