A major cleanup operation has taken place in Creswell thanks to a drive to improve public spaces.
Officers from Bolsover District Council’s Environmental Health, Enforcement and Street Scene teams worked together to tackle large amounts of fly tipping, dog fouling, overgrown and untidy land on Duke Street, Creswell.
The area off Victoria Street has been cleared of all waste, dog mess has been removed from the pavements and an extensive litter pick was also carried out.
Work is ongoing to clean the alleyways at the rear of the properties, making the area clean and safer for residents to access. Bushes and branches have been pruned to improve visibility along these paths.
North East Derbyshire District Council is consulting on a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Mill Lane near Stainsby Mill, close to Hardwick Hall – a destination attracting over 300,000 visitors annually.
The area has become a hotspot for criminal and anti-social behaviour, including fly-tipping, littering, drug misuse, and activities that pose a serious risk to public safety and outrage public decency.
These behaviours are not condonable and undermine the enjoyment of one of Derbyshire’s most popular visitor locations.

Freedom Community Project will officially close its services after 17 years of supporting people in Bolsover and nearby communities.
Despite extensive efforts to secure long-term funding, the organisation has been unable to find sustainable financial support and is facing closure. Founded in 2008, Freedom has helped thousands of individuals and families with food aid, debt advice, job support, and community outreach.

A resident from Derby has paid a £300 fixed penalty notice for a waste offence.
Fly tipping was found on Brookhill Lane, Pinxton and reported to Environmental Health. The evidence was investigated and the offender paid the fixed penalty to avoid prosecution.

A driver has accrued costs of more than £900 for car cruising in Doe Lea.
Bolsover District Council put a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in place in the area to reduce the impact of car cruises.
Several vehicles were identified as taking part in activities that breached the order, and a number of fixed penalty notices were issued to the vehicle owners.

New rules are coming into force for private landlords and their tenants.
