You only have until Sunday 10 August to have your say on the future of the local councils that deliver services.
Derbyshire’s boroughs and districts and Derby City Council have come together to develop proposals that would see all councils in the county replaced and all local services delivered instead by two new local authorities – one covering northern Derbyshire, the other serving southern Derbyshire.
The proposals for change have been developed in response to a government decision to reorganise local government across England. It wants to simplify the way councils are organised and improve their efficiency while delivering services that are better and more joined-up.
Natalie Fleet MP officially opened the new office for Bolsover Community and Voluntary Service (BCVS) in Cavendish Walk, Bolsover on 1 August.
BCVS have been in Bolsover for around four years but have moved to a new premises that better fits their needs. They work to support local residents and voluntary and community groups across the area. They aim to create, support and develop a sustainable and vibrant third sector by supporting and facilitating strong and effective communtiy voices which will have an influence locally, regionally and nationally.
The official opening was attended by Natalie Fleet MP, Bolsover District Council Leader Councillor Jane Yates, Bolsover District Council Deputy Leader Councillor Donna Hales and Bolsover District Council Chief Executive Karen Hanson as well as other partners.
