£130k investment for local communities

Nearly £130,000 is to be invested in developing three community venues across Bolsover District.

Our Executive agreed to accept £128,333 from the East Midlands Combined County Authority as part of the Rural Economic Prosperity Funding (REPF).

The cash will be spent on developing plans and improvements for three separate projects.

Glapwell Cricket Club will benefit from a disabled ramp, access improvements and a new accessible toilet. Pinxton will see plans drawn up for a community centre in the village and plans will be drawn up to convert the former Anchor Inn in Clowne into a community centre.

Fuel switch to save 829 tonnes of CO2 per year

We are converting our vehicle fleet - including our household waste collection HGVs - to run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

The switch to this fuel will result in a saving of 829.49 tonnes of CO2 a year.

HVO is a renewable, diesel-like fuel made from vegetable oils, animal fats, or waste minerals, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil diesel with up to 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

£800k investment in local communities

We are set to receive £803,023 from the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) to help deliver local investment projects.

The money is part of the regions share of the UK Shared Prosperity Funds (UK SPF) which EMCCA manage and distribute in the region.

The funding is to be split into two areas; revenue (£451, 199) and capital (£351,824) projects and it will help deliver significant social, economic and environmental benefits for the district.

Derbyshire Makes coming to Bolsover

Derbyshire Makes is a new programme of cultural events across the county - including projects produced by local communities and commissions from Derbyshire artists.

Take part in a series of exciting workshops across the town including buckle making, mini banner making and willow sculpture.

£80k investment in new tennis facility

We have approved an £80k investment to develop a brand new tennis facility at our Goo! Active leisure facility in Clowne.

The development will see the old astro-turf pitch converted into three new tennis courts. all to Lawn Tennis Association standards.

Trustees of the former Clowne Town Tennis Club (CTTC) approached us to work with them and look for a venue where they could reintroduce tennis into the community.
