Bolsover CVS (BCVS) are thrilled to announce the opening of nominations for the annual Volunteer Awards.
These prestigious awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of volunteers who have dedicated their time and effort to making a positive impact in their communities.
As part of Volunteers Week, the awards ceremony will take place on 2 June 2025 at the Glapwell Centre.

A local resident whose father fought in World War II, and died in the Battle of Nuenen in Holland, told us about his only memory of his dad.
Grant Stothard and his family attended a ceremony in the Dutch village last year to commemorate 80 years since the battle.

Bolsover has been a market town since the 13th century - but it's latest market is something different.
The Bolsover Artisan market is held on the first Saturday of every month and the market is a haven for both traditional and quirky goods, foods and entertainment.
And to top it off they have recently won a prestigious award for the Best Small Speciality Market.

We have been made aware of a licence fee scam in Derbyshire in which fraudsters have contacted alcohol licence holders asserting that their licence has expired and that a renewal payment is required.
We would not contact a licence holder to demand payment over the phone; all annual fee payment requests are made via invoice and follow-up reminders which detail methods by which the licence holder can contact us to make a payment.

Due to a faulty meter and estimated readings, John was in debt with his energy supplier for more than £1,300.
With help from regional charity Groundwork Five Counties and its energy advisors known as Green Doctors, John was able to rectify his energy supplier's mistake, get his debt wiped, gain £300 credit and have a smart meter installed.

Children in Bolsover can take part in some Easter holiday activities - but with a twist.
As part of the HAF (Holiday Activity Fund), Imagination Gaming are staging some activities at Bolsover Library on Tuesday 8 April and Thursday 16 April from 10am to 2pm.
The sessions are focused on enjoyment and learning in equal measure and are based around board games and a healthy lunch is also provided.
