An innovative pilot project to help homeowners save energy is coming to Clowne on Saturday 25 January. The Home Energy Advice Team Hub (HEAT Hub) will be at our main headquarters at the Arc (in the council chamber) on High Street, Clowne from 1pm to 3pm.
The HEAT Hub offers local and innovative in-person advice to residents with homes that are hard to heat (EPC rating of D to G), not connected to the gas network, or in conservation areas. Eligible households can also sign up to receive a free Home Energy survey, providing an in-depth plan tailored to their property.
The event is being organised by specialist energy advice charity, Marches Energy Agency (MEA), with support from us. Residents can book a space at this free event. There’ll be a short talk about what’s on offer, and a chance to get answers to any nagging questions you may have from a range of local businesses and experts.

Some benefits and tax credits are ending and being replaced by Universal Credit. Universal Credit (UC) is a single monthly payment to help with your living costs and provides support if you are working and on a low income, looking for work or unable to work.
The following benefits and tax credits are ending and being replaced by Universal Credit:
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Housing Benefit
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is writing to people who receive these benefits to let them know that they need to claim Universal Credit instead.
