Representatives from emh group, Bolsover District Council and developers Owl partnerships recently met to celebrate the start of work to build new affordable homes in South Normanton.
The Meadow is being developed on land to the rear of Red Lane in South Normanton, and will provide 52 new, mixed tenure, affordable homes. This includes 28 homes for social rent and 24 for shared ownership, with a mix of 1-bedroom maisonettes, and 2, 3 and 4-bedroomed semi-detached and detached family homes.
A number of regeneration projects across Bolsover District have been given the go-ahead after we received confirmation we would be allocated £15million from the new government.
The Government made the announcement as part of their Autumn Statement and the projects are based on the initial investment plan which was approved in June.
They include the development of prominent buildings in Bolsover town, the refurbishment of the former church hall in Pinxton and the construction of a Green Skills and Retrofit Skills in Shirebrook.
We are encouraging our residents to recycle more as we look to reduce the amount of waste that is sent to landfill.
Over recent years we have added more waste types that can be recycled and made it easier for people to recycle through their burgundy bin. These include:
Adding waxed cartons to their list of items that can be recycled
Adding soft plastics to their list of items that can be recycled
Residents of Blackwell parish have been busy knitting, crocheting and looming over 7,000 poppies to create their own yarn version of 'Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red' inspired by the iconic poppy installation by Paul Cummings.
The project started around ten-months ago with a self-guided 'crochet poppy pack' designed by young Westhouses resident Izzy Stocks for people to learn how to crochet and make poppies at home.
A £200 fixed penalty notice has been issued in relation to a fly tipping incident in Westhouses.
During a routine patrol of the district, our officers found evidence in fly-tipped household waste in a layby near Westhouses. The evidence was passed to an enforcement officer who investigated and traced the waste to a property in North Yorkshire.
A cultural project that aims to boost creativity and culture in Ault Hucknall, Glapwell and Pleasley has staged its latest event in the area.
A tile making workshop was held at Pleasley Pit Museum with the aim that the tiles will tell a story about the history, heritage and culture of the area.
The tiles will then be on permanent display at the museum.
