We are encouraging all people who are of pensionable age to apply for Pension Credit.
This is a means-tested top-up benefit, so entitlement is affected by your savings and weekly income. But lots of people who think they are not entitled can often by surprised to find that they can get help.
Although savings affect entitlement, the first £10,000 of any savings don't count, and even if you have more than that you may still qualify. If you own you own homes, you can still claim.
On this week's episode:
- We speak to SNAP Youth in South Normanton about their future
- A new restaurant is under construction in Bolsover
- A spooky night is on the cards with a film screening
- Half term activities are on offer across the district
- And a florist in the district has won a coveted title

We have received reports of a licensing fee scam in which the fraudsters have contacted alcohol licence holders asserting that their licence has expired and that a renewal payment is required.
We would not contact a licence holder to demand payment over the phone. All annual fee payment requests are made via invoice and follow-up reminders which detail methods by which the licence holder can contact us to make payment are on the back of the invoice.

Our main headquarters and Go! Active leisure facility in Clowne are registered as Safe Places.
The Derbyshire Safe Place scheme aims to provide a temporary safe place where people can go if they feel scared, are lost or need help when they are out and about.
The scheme hopes to reduce bullying and abuse of people by providing a safe environment, easily identifiable by the Safe Place logo.
As a safe place, we will make a phone call on behalf of that person to either a parent, carer or the emergency services (if a crime has taken place).

We have approved a review on our energy policy for local housing that will improve energy resilience in local housing stock and assist residents with the rising costs of energy.
Our Climate Change and Communities Scrutiny Committee undertook the review and and Executive agreed to adopt the recommendations that will help provide a clear policy on energy efficiency standards across Council stock and long-term energy resilience across all housing stock within the district.
The review also assessed our energy policies and minimum energy efficiency standards and evaluated our approach to improving energy ratings of private rented sector stock and installing EV charging points.

South Normanton residents are being invited to have their say and come up with ideas for a new mural in the town.
Funding has been secured from our Place programme for the new mural to be on the lawn side wall of the Clock Inn on Market Street in the town.
A drop-in event is being staged on Sunday 13 October from 1pm to 4pm at the Clock Inn for residents, families or anyone wanting to get involved. There will be free art activities and the chance to have your say on what should be included in the mural.
